Workshops for businesses (Holland Casino, NS en BP).

Short description
The Reading & Writing Foundation has approached various businesses to raise their awareness of illiteracy. In addition to the possibility that businesses might have illiterate employees, there is also a big chance that employees will encounter illiteracy when dealing with clients. It is important that employees realise this, so they can indicate to illiterate people the possibilities of doing something about their problem. In addition, companies are tested as to how accessible their information is to illiterates, including testing by illiterate people themselves.

Objectives

The following companies have taken concrete steps:

• Holland Casino (raising awareness among employees and increase the accessibility of the Holland Casino establishments);
• Nederlandse Spoorwegen (Dutch Railways; increasing the accessibility of NS stations);
• BP (raising awareness among employees).
